Learn More About Maria:
Rosalia “Maria” Hawkins is a native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She attended Jacksonville University for her undergraduate education and graduated magna cum laude with a dual major in Political Science and Communications, and a minor in Spanish. During her senior year, Maria was received the Communication Department Leader of the Year award for her commitment and leadership.
After graduation, Maria moved back to North Carolina for law school and attended Campbell University School of Law. While at Campbell, Maria found her passion for litigation through her internships and competing on the Mock Trial Team, traveling to competitions from New York to Texas. While at Campbell, Maria was awarded the Order of the Barristers Award recognizing her outstanding performance in the art of trial advocacy.
At Miller Law Group, Maria represents clients in all matters related to family law. Maria’s colleagues describe her as a zealous advocate, full of fire and passion for her clients. She is knowledgeable and truly cares for her clients. When possible, Maria always searches for a reasonable and workable resolution for all parties involved, without the need for litigation. However, not all matters can be resolved amicably and, when necessary, Maria won’t hesitate to do battle in court on behalf of her clients.
Growing up in a large family who depended heavily on their local community for support, Maria understands the importance of giving back to her community. Maria volunteers with North Carolina Legal Aid and serves as a mentor to several local students. Maria also serves as a mock trial coach for Campbell Law School where her teams have won several awards, including a national championship.
In her free time, Maria enjoys watching sports (especially her hometown Tarheels), going to the beach, and spending time with her family. Maria currently lives in Raleigh with her husband Jamie, their son James, and their two fun-loving dogs Mimi and Atlanta.
