W. Stacy Miller II is the founder of Miller Law Group, PLLC. Stacy represents whistleblowers reporting fraud against the state or federal government, victims of consumer fraud, people who have been injured or killed by unsafe products, and people who have been seriously injured or killed by the negligence of another. His three decades of serving clients has given him expertise in prosecuting complex actions in both state and federal courts.
His experience includes qui tam suits, medical malpractice actions, product liability suits, and class actions; negotiating multimillion-dollar settlements for victims of medical malpractice or dangerous products; and working with medical and technical experts to establish causation in medical malpractice and products liability cases. He has argued successfully before the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Among Stacy’s proudest accomplishment is his participation in the Weston Androw case. Seven-year-old Weston was killed by a negligently maintained elevator in a vacation rental home. But even more importantly, he helped the family lobby for a new law requiring landlord to repair the fault that led to Weston’s death. “Weston’s Law” took effect on October 1, 2022.
Most recently, Stacy is working to handle claims from victims exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune after President Joe Biden signed the Camp Lejeune Justice Act into law. This legislation will clear the way for veterans and others exposed to contaminated water at the North Carolina camp to bring claims for personal injury and wrongful death caused by toxic exposure.
Stacy has represented clients in multidistrict litigation against opioid manufacturers, Juul Labs, Inc., and Sulzer Orthopedics, for its faulty hip and knee prostheses. In these cases, Stacy not only filed the lawsuits, but also made sure his clients were appropriately compensated in the resulting global settlements.
Stacy’s work in litigating False Claims Act cases has made Miller Law Group the preeminent qui tam practice in North Carolina. He has helped relators report fraud against the government in healthcare, federal contracting, and other venues.
Stacy’s excellence has been amply recognized. He has been named Litigator of the Year by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers twice, in 2019 and 2021, and by the American Institute of Legal Professionals in 2021. He is listed among the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and Super Lawyers and has been rated Preeminent by A/V Martindale-Hubbell for more than 10 years.
Stacy also contributes regularly to the community. He is a frequent lecturer and trial team coach at Campbell University School of Law, where he also serves on the Board of Visitors. A longtime, active member of North Carolina Advocates for Justice, he served as president of the Negligence section of the American Advocates for Justice in 2008. North Carolina Advocates for Justice presented him with a Distinguished Service Award in 2009. In 2022, he received an Ebbie Award from the organization in recognition of his service and commitment.
In 2022, Stacy was appointed to the Centennial Authority by the North Carolina Speaker of the House. He has served as a Raleigh City Council member and on the boards of several local nonprofits.
Stacy was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1994. After interning in the Wake County District Attorney’s office, he began his career as a criminal defense attorney, which gave him the opportunity to try hundreds of cases and get daily experience in the courtroom. He later moved to civil litigation and founded Miller Law Group in 2015.
Stacy graduated from Wake Forest University, where he played football as a defensive back, in 1989 with a B.A. in political science. He earned his J.D. from Campbell University School of Law in 1994.
He is admitted to practice in North Carolina and the District of Columbia and has been admitted to the bar for the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of North Carolina.
Stacy is married to Blannie Cheng Miller; they have two sons, Stacy III and Hank.
