Statistics Reveal North Carolina Pedestrian Deaths Are Rising
The Raleigh News and Observer shares that for 2018, there were 228 pedestrians killed in traffic incidents. That number is up over THIRTEEN PERCENT from 2017.
The study shows that as of 2018 (the most recent year with complete data available) that pedestrian deaths in North Carolina have gone up a whopping FIFTY-FOUR PERCENT since 2009.
In most pedestrian wrongful death cases, insurance companies begin by trying to place all the blame on the pedestrian. The insurance company then fails to correct explain the law to the family, and since the pedestrian is dead, there may be no one to argue.

North Carolina follows contributory negligence, which is an unfair, out-dated law that 46 other states, and most of the world, has abandoned. It says if you contribute AT ALL to your injuries or death, you cannot recover anything.
However, there are ways to beat contributory negligence, and just because an insurance adjuster tells you that something was a negligent act, doesn’t mean it really was.
