Drunk Driving in North Carolina is a Bigger Threat Than in Other States

The Centers for Disease Control conducts research into drunk driving across the United States.  Sadly, the results for North Carolina are alarming.

The rate of deaths due to drunk driving, across ALL age groups, was higher in North Carolina than the national average, and was significantly higher for people in the 21-34 age group.

The same research found that nearly one-third of all vehicle-related deaths are caused by drunk drivers.

While other drugs are also to blame, illegal and legal drugs COMBINED still only account for about 16% of these wrecks, so alcohol is still, by far, the main problem with impaired driving.

If you’ve been hurt by a drunk driver, you need to stand up for your rights, not just for yourself and your family, but to protect your community from seeing the same behavior again.

Conduct rewarded will always be conduct repeated.  If there are no consequences for a drunk driver, they will drive while drunk again, and others will as well.

Remember that these numbers in those studies represent people who are caught, and the few people who admit to drinking and driving.  Significantly larger numbers lie about it, so there are far more drunk drivers than we even realize.
